A store called "ReX" or "Retro XChange," opening right next to an existing CeX branch and stocked entirely with physical retro games—that's the picture painted by YouTube channel Retro Ghetto, and it's the most concrete detail to emerge from this report. According to the channel, this branch could be located on Bull Street in Birmingham city centre, right beside an existing CeX store.

The information has not been officially confirmed by CeX, and comes entirely from what Retro Ghetto describes as "anonymous CeX sources." In the video, the YouTuber says they obtained statements from two CeX insiders over time, emphasizing that "this is being kept pretty hush-hush internally at CeX—there might even be CeX employees watching this video who have no idea about it at all." They also admitted that "things could always fall through before they actually happen, but I can confirm this is genuinely in the works and is genuinely their intention."

The store name is tentatively narrowed down to either "ReX" or "Retro XChange," with an opening timeframe pointing to the holiday season later this year or early 2027. As for the rumored second location, Retro Ghetto did not reveal where it might be.

CeX's existing stores already sell retro games as part of their broader lineup of second-hand video games, phones, computers, DVDs, Blu-rays, and consumer electronics. If the rumor proves true, this would mark CeX's first time launching a standalone store format dedicated solely to physical retro games. CeX opened its first store on Tottenham Court Road in London back in 1992, and now operates nearly 400 branches across the UK, along with over 200 locations internationally.

For now, this remains an unconfirmed rumor relayed via a YouTube channel, and CeX has yet to issue an official response.
