Steam Deck OLED just got a price hike, but another SteamOS handheld on the market is heading the opposite direction. Lenovo's Legion Go S (SteamOS version with Z2 Go processor) is now down to $635.54 at checkout on Lenovo's official site when you enter the promo code "EXTRASAVEAFF"—a drop from its original $1,137.41 price tag, marking a 44% discount and the lowest price this model has ever hit. For comparison, Best Buy still has it listed at close to $1,000.
The Z2 Go chip powering this handheld isn't exactly a showstopper—performance lands roughly in the same ballpark as the pricier OLED Steam Deck, handling indie titles just fine but requiring you to dial back graphics settings for anything more demanding. What actually makes this machine worth a look is the display: an 8-inch IPS panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate and variable refresh rate support, which isn't exactly common at this price point.
When The Verge reviewed the Legion Go S back at its 2024 launch, they tested both the Windows and SteamOS versions side by side, and the verdict was clear—the SteamOS version felt noticeably better to use, mostly thanks to the overall experience, even though Windows has been catching up lately. In other words, this price cut isn't really about the hardware specs—it's that pairing the right OS with this device is what makes it click, and now you can get it at basically half off.
