The story follows a queer New York party promoter (played by Firstman himself) who's grown tired of the club scene, only to have his life turned upside down when he discovers he has a 10-year-old son he's never met (played by Reggie Absolom). This setup has led "Club Kid" to be described as a heartfelt comedy rather than just another nightlife flick.
The supporting cast includes Cara Delevingne, Diego Calva, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. For Firstman, this marks his first time taking center stage as a creator, following acting credits in "I Love LA," "English Teacher," "Hacks," and "Rotting in the Sun."
The bidding war at Cannes was far from quiet, with Netflix, Searchlight Pictures, Focus Features, and Mubi all reportedly in the mix. Sources say Firstman specifically negotiated full travel and styling support for the entire cast, ensuring the team would have complete resources throughout the upcoming global promotional push.
"Club Kid" is set to hit theaters on November 6, 2026, joining A24's fellow release "The Debut" in the fall awards season conversation.
