An Air Max 95 built with more care than most retail releases, yet destined never to hit a single store shelf — that's the paradox at the heart of Aya Brown's latest collaboration. The Brooklyn artist's Friends and Family edition with Nike, officially dubbed Baroque Brown/Black/Anthracite-Action Green, is capped at 200 pairs, with a recipient list far shorter than any retail distribution roster.
The design itself doesn't cut corners. The upper is built primarily from brown suede, replacing the Air Max 95's signature layered color-blocking, while the side panels and toe box feature a reworked mesh material that pulls the whole silhouette into a deep, almost vintage-furniture brown. What still gives it away as an Air Max 95 is that pop of Action Green — showing up on the Swoosh, tongue branding, exposed Air unit, and outsole, standing out sharply against the black detailing. In effect, it's a reshuffling of two Air Max 95 archives — the "Neon" and "Beef and Broccoli" colorways — into a more subdued brown-and-black foundation.
