Nine camos, three modes, none overlapping — that's the Mastery Camo structure currently revealed for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4." Compared to last year's title, the count is smaller, but the grouping clearly maps out the path players will take to grind their weapon camos this year.
The three camos obtainable in Multiplayer are Mercurial Drift, Polyatomic Reforged, and Orion Reforged. Warzone players will be chasing Parallax, Damascus Reforged, and Empyros, while DMZ mode corresponds to Chiral, Ripple Tide, and Helio. The "Reforged" in some of the names hints that certain color schemes are reworked versions from older titles in the series, though officials haven't specified which generation's design they correspond to.
The actual challenges required to unlock these camos haven't been announced yet — Infinity Ward is expected to release details around the game's launch. In other words, players currently only know what the finish line looks like, not which road leads there.
Beyond the mode-exclusive camos, reaching Prestige Master will also unlock Prestige Camos. One notable change: the weapon Prestige Camos featured in "Black Ops 7" won't be making an appearance this year, and the specific camo progression mechanics won't become clear until closer to launch.
"Modern Warfare 4"'s story is set against a full-scale war breaking out on the Korean Peninsula, with North Korea launching an invasion while a South Korean unit holds the line at the front. Meanwhile, Captain Price runs a covert operation in the shadows, with the two storylines eventually converging. The game has not yet announced an official price or release date.
