DAN DA DAN Animation Works opens in Taipei December 25: presales from NT$390
The overseas tour begins at Huashan and runs until April 6, 2027. Presales start October 29; the NT$900 commemorative pair requires simultaneous entry.
The first overseas stop of DAN DA DAN Animation Works is scheduled for December 25, 2026–April 6, 2027, at Huashan 1914 Creative Park’s East 2A and 2B halls in Taipei. It focuses on how Science SARU transforms manga into animation. The udn ticket page announces presales beginning October 29, with individual admission at NT$390 and a commemorative pair at NT$900. Beyond characters, the exhibition examines storyboards, drawing, colour, 3DCG, music and sound across two seasons. It has not yet opened.
How does a production exhibition differ from viewing drawings?
Based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga, the animation places supernatural events, aliens, youth and battles within one visual rhythm. The exhibition presents storyboards, settings, drawing, 3DCG, art, colour design, compositing, music and sound effects as connected stages. Alongside photographing favourite characters, visitors can ask how one scene moves from a paper composition into an image with speed and sound.
With storyboards, look at cuts and gaze direction before comparing colour and composition in a completed frame. With 3DCG material, observe how three-dimensional space coexists with drawn lines. These are ways to understand animation, not permission to photograph or record every exhibit. Follow each area’s signs and on-site rules; public display does not imply unrestricted reuse.
Familiar scenes and Taipei-exclusive content await the installation
Official previews mention the tunnel associated with Okarun and Turbo Granny, the basement where the Evil Eye was sealed, the giant Buddha robot and the Mantis Shrimp alien’s spacecraft, alongside Taiwan-exclusive animated scenes and merchandise. Photographs of the earlier Japanese exhibition help explain the format. They do not prove that the same installation is already completed at Huashan; Taipei’s layout remains subject to the actual exhibition.
Anyone particularly interested in new scenes or exclusive merchandise should wait for further organiser details. A viewing route can be divided between story and characters on one hand, and production material, sound and colour on the other. Even viewers familiar with the animation may then notice decisions that pass quickly while watching episodes, rather than simply retracing the plot.
NT$390 presales or the NT$900 pair?
udn lists presales for October 29–December 24, 2026, at NT$390 per person, followed by NT$450 full-price admission during the exhibition. The NT$900 Turbo Granny commemorative pair requires both visitors to enter together. Commemorative cards are collected at the exhibition entrance after ticket validation and are not mailed; they do not replace the actual admission tickets. Compare ordinary presales first if attending only for the exhibition, then check the package if collecting.
The Turbo Granny commemorative pair features two shaped cards and a display stand; final contents remain subject to the supplied product.
Hours are 10am–6pm daily, with ticket sales and admission ending at 5:30pm. The exhibition closes on Lunar New Year’s Eve, February 5, 2027. The address is No. 1, Section 1, Bade Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei. Mobile admission requires the original electronic ticket under the seller’s rules, rather than a screenshot alone. For groups, simultaneous entry, merchandise collection and the closed date can affect the visit more directly than the discount alone.
