The standout thread running through Disney+ and Hulu's September lineup is a return to horror. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's long-running anthology series "American Horror Story" reaches Season 13, dropping three episodes at once on Hulu on September 24 and bringing back plenty of familiar faces in returning roles — this season centers on the franchise's most dreaded number. On the 16th, the Berlin-set vampire series "City of Blood" also arrives, making September's lineup notably heavy on chills.
On the film side, the headliner is "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu," which just hit theaters this summer and lands straight on Disney+ on September 2. Director Jon Favreau reunites Pedro Pascal with Grogu, with a cast that also includes Sigourney Weaver, plus voice work from Martin Scorsese and Jeremy Allen White. The same day also brings a behind-the-scenes podcast and "LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian," which retells the live-action story with a comedic twist.
The original series slate is also packed tight. "Chad Powers" Season 2 premieres on Hulu September 3, followed by "The Drop: A Snowfall Saga" — a spin-off of "Queen of the South" — on September 8, and the Korean thriller "Made in Korea" Season 2 debuts September 9. Meanwhile, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" Season 18 and "Futurama" Season 14 continue rolling out new episodes steadily throughout the month.
The library additions this month lean heavily toward Sony and Marvel titles: "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" both land on Disney+ on September 4, while "Kraven the Hunter" joins on September 13. Hulu is also adding last awards season's buzzy titles "Wicked" (September 21) and "A Complete Unknown" (September 27).
Reality and live programming are also a major part of September. "Dancing with the Stars" Season 35 premieres September 15, while the iHeartRadio Music Festival streams live on September 18 and 19. Additionally, two specials marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 will air on September 2 and September 11 respectively.
