Foo Fighters Break Out Deep Cuts at Hollywood Bowl: "Razor" Returns After 20 Years, "Home" Resurfaces

The last time Foo Fighters brought "Razor" to the stage was 2006. "Home" hadn't been played since 2007. And "I Should Have Known" hadn't shown up since that one night in 2012. On August 22 at the Hollywood Bowl, all three songs came back to life in a single night.

The show was part of LA Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel's farewell concert series, marking his 17 years with the orchestra. Dudamel personally conducted the full ensemble, bringing in members of Youth Orchestra Los Angeles to join in, while Foo Fighters took the stage as a band in a space usually reserved for symphonic performances, delivering a 15-song set.

The setlist covered fan favorites like "All My Life," "The Pretender," "Learn To Fly," and "Best Of You," but what really set this show apart from a routine gig were those three rarely-played tracks, plus a song carrying extra emotional weight — "Aurora," dedicated to the late drummer Taylor Hawkins. The night closed out with "Everlong," fireworks lighting up the Hollywood sky.

This isn't the first time Dave Grohl has teamed up with Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic. Back in April at Coachella 2025, the pair had already performed orchestral versions of "The Sky Is A Neighborhood" and "Everlong" together. The Hollywood Bowl show is essentially an extension of that same pairing, just with a bigger scale and a heftier setlist.

The band is currently on tour promoting their 12th studio album, "Your Favorite Toy," released this past April. Earlier this month, they also dropped a live EP, "Are Playing Where??? Vol. II," featuring six tracks recorded at small venues in New York and New Jersey. Up next: Rock In Rio on September 4, plus a "one night only" gig opening for AC/DC in St. Louis — an opportunity Grohl called "basically a dream come true."
