FUTUREMODE 2026 Taiwan Future Festival Opens at Yuanshan, AMD and Google Cloud Join Three-Day Event
Upgraded from Taipei Blockchain Week, FUTUREMODE 2026 kicks off a three-day event at the Expo Dome in Yuanshan, combining forums, hackathons, and cross-disciplinary experiences, with brands like AMD, Google Cloud, and OpenAI all in attendance.
The inaugural "FUTUREMODE 2026 Taiwan Future Festival," upgraded from Taipei Blockchain Week, grandly opened today (4th) at the Expo Dome in Taipei's Yuanshan Flora Expo Park. Centered on "AI × Brands × Culture × Digital Assets × Emerging Tech," the three-day event brings together global tech companies, industry leaders, developers, startups, and creative communities to explore the diverse possibilities of technology and future living.
The BUILDMODE Hackathon, jointly created by FUTUREMODE and the Students' Information Technology Conference (SITCON), also launched on opening day. The event attracted over 600 developers who registered and attended in person. Organizers stated that the scale is expected to set a new record for AI hackathons in Taiwan, making it one of the most anticipated core events of this year's FUTUREMODE.
At the opening ceremony, Taipei City Government Deputy Secretary-General Lin Shih-pin, representing Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, thanked all organizers, co-organizers, and behind-the-scenes teams for their efforts. He stated that the development of AI and startup industries has gradually permeated all sectors and citizens' daily lives, expressing hope that talent, creativity, and resources could be fully exchanged and integrated through FUTUREMODE, and wished the three-day event great success.
Ou Shu-fang, Chairperson of the Taipei Neihu Technology Park Development Association and Chairman of University Optical Technology Co., Ltd., stated that the future explored by FUTUREMODE is exactly the challenge Neihu Technology Park must face in its next decade.
She noted that Neihu Technology Park currently hosts over 6,700 companies and more than 220,000 employees, having long evolved from a traditional science park into an innovation cluster where enterprises, talent, capital, and urban life are deeply intertwined. The association hopes to continue serving as a policy bridge between businesses and the government, using platforms like the BUILDMODE Hackathon to facilitate exchanges among corporate needs, young talent, and international resources, ensuring innovative solutions truly enter the industry and create collaboration opportunities.
Four Curatorial Dimensions, Building a "Future Lifestyle Playground"
FUTUREMODE 2026 breaks away from the framework of a single-industry conference, transforming the tech exhibition into an explorable, participatory, and interactive "Future Lifestyle Playground" that feels closer to everyday life.
The event unfolds across four core directions:
Learn: Knowledge Exchange
Build: Hands-On Co-Creation
Experience: Immersive Experience
Recharge: Mind & Body Refresh
Through forums, workshops, hackathons, tech exhibitions, sports, and cultural experiences, participants are guided to understand how technology enters real-life scenarios, reimagining the relationship between people and future technology.
Three Stages, Hundreds of Speakers: Grasping Cutting-Edge Tech Trends
The three stages—FUTUREMODE Stage, Onboard Stage, and Workshop Stage—are expected to bring together over 100 speakers, delivering more than 40 keynote speeches, fireside chats, and panel discussions, along with over 30 workshops and product showcases.
Speakers and participating companies span international tech and financial brands including AMD, Google Cloud, and Mastercard, sharing the latest developments in AI infrastructure, digital finance, consumer tech, Web3 applications, hardware integration, and future lifestyle scenarios.
At noon on opening day, the organizers also arranged an online keynote from OpenAI titled "AI Engineering with Codex," delivered by Derrick Choi, OpenAI's Head of Codex Applied AI for Asia-Pacific.
Over 600 Developers Co-Create On-Site, Competing for Prizes Exceeding $90,000 USD
The BUILDMODE Hackathon, in partnership with Taiwan's leading developer community SITCON, features six major challenge tracks, inviting developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and students to form teams and propose innovative solutions combining AI, digital assets, emerging technology, and future lifestyle scenarios within a set time frame.
This year's hackathon boasts a total prize pool exceeding $90,000 USD, with partners including OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and Cathay Financial Holdings providing development tools, computing credits, and follow-up resources. Participating teams will not only receive guidance from industry experts but will also showcase their results on-site, competing for awards and future collaboration opportunities.
From F1 to AI Bartending to Sports Experiences: Technology Enters Daily Life
Beyond forums and the hackathon, the event also features numerous cross-disciplinary experiences on-site. Red Bull LUKA brings DJ performances, lounge spaces, and F1 racing simulators; CHAOZ Technologies' AI cocktail-mixing machines showcase artificial intelligence applications in entertainment and dining; NOXCAT sets up a Beyblade Zone for spinning-top battle experiences, while Deepcoin installs a badminton court, offering participants various forms of interactive competitive experiences.
From September 4th to 5th, the Expo Plaza simultaneously launches "Unconventional Playground," presented by Savor, blending food, art, music, technology, and social interaction to create a cross-disciplinary exchange space.
For high-intensity conferences and social events, the organizers have also set up a Recharge zone. The Wellness Zone includes Supercover Ice Bath experiences, F45 Training fitness classes, and Run Clubs presented by Blackwater and NID Fitness Studio, allowing participants to reset their pace and replenish energy between sessions.
On opening day, the Food Court also launches a Fu Hang Soy Milk breakfast event, featuring limited-edition dishes, classic Taiwanese snacks, bubble tea, and an MEXC coffee refueling station, letting participants from around the world savor the charm of Taipei through their taste buds.
