Hanlin turns 40: how the NT$40 bubble tea, member coupon and merchandise offers work

The department-store deal is limited to 50 takeaway cups a day. From November 6, separate member and merchandise offers have their own dates and conditions.

Hanlin turns 40: how the NT$40 bubble tea, member coupon and merchandise offers work

Hanlin Tea Room is marking its 40th anniversary with two distinct offers: limited bubble tea during department-store anniversary sales, and merchandise add-on purchases beginning November 6. For a large original bubble tea at NT$40, check the first four days of the particular branch’s department-store sale rather than choosing any day or shop. Pins, tote bags and miniature light boxes have a separate calendar and purchase requirements.

NT$40 tea and the member coupon have different rules

The department-store promotion runs within an announced period ending January 31, 2027. During each participating store’s first four anniversary-sale days, the first 50 large original bubble teas each day cost NT$40. The limit is one per person, takeaway only. This is neither a daily nationwide price nor a NT$40 offer for every drink. Confirm the branch’s actual sale dates, collection procedure and remaining daily allocation before travelling.

The Foodie Tong app member coupon applies from November 6, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Each member may claim one coupon for one large takeaway drink of any variety at 40% of its regular price. Separately, Hanlin Brand Day falls on the first and third Tuesdays of each month; the announcement lists November 3, November 17 and December 1 among the dates, with 10% off a single order at Hanlin branches nationwide. These are different schemes, not evidence that discounts can be combined; check at checkout.

NT$69, NT$89 and NT$99 are add-on prices

Anniversary merchandise is available as an add-on with a purchase at designated Hanlin Tea Room, Tea House and hotpot branches from November 6, 2026, through January 31, 2027. Pins cost NT$69, light-box blind bags NT$89 and tote bags NT$99. These are not a three-piece set or standalone prices without a qualifying purchase. In the official photographs, green brand shapes and a bubble-tea cup become small accessories; the tote combines a green base and straps with colourful graphics. Retro sign-like light boxes turn everyday drink-order phrases into objects.

The spending gift applies specifically at designated Hanlin Tea Room branches: each NT$1,299 spent in one transaction after discounts earns one anniversary gift, while NT$2,598 earns two, and so on, while supplies last. Add-ons, gifts and member discounts have separate location and timing rules. The NT$89 blind bag should not automatically be identified as the spending gift, and publicity photographs cannot guarantee which design a blind bag contains.

A counter makes food preparation part of the Qsquare visit

A further change is the counter-style Hanlin Tea House that opened at Taipei Qsquare on October 9. Staff assemble and cook ingredients in front of diners, with the brand describing bonito and spicy broths alongside oden and side dishes. Tea and food occupy the same setting. The pictures show seating around the preparation counter, hanging wooden menu boards and warm pendant lights: choosing ingredients and watching preparation become part of the room, inviting a different pace from a quick takeaway tea stop.

The brand held its anniversary ceremony at Tainan’s Luermen Mazu Temple on October 27, linking qipao dress with a Chinese pun on setting off at a starting line. That event has ended and is not an ongoing branch activity. For customers, the useful distinction is between department-store tea, merchandise starting in November and food at Qsquare, followed by a check of stock, queues and branch notices. Food images are brand-supplied serving suggestions; unannounced set prices, portions and flavour impressions cannot be inferred from them.
