Langham Place TRICK or BEANS: Sparkling Coffee Beneath a Seven-Metre Mars

Fourteen local brands bring Halloween drinks and snacks to Mong Kok, with Tokyo coffee guests joining the October 31–November 1 finale.

Langham Place TRICK or BEANS: Sparkling Coffee Beneath a Seven-Metre Mars

Langham Place’s TRICK or BEANS Zero-Gravity Sparkling Coffee Fest places a seven-metre MARS installation above its fourth-floor Grand Atrium in Mong Kok. Fourteen local brands combine bubbles, fruit and coffee for Halloween, while Tokyo’s Shinya Kissa Genso and Rauhaa Koffee will bring live pour-over brewing to the finale on October 31 and November 1, 2026. The event offers a way to combine an art installation, creative drinks and small bites in one city walk.

How does Mars change the setting for coffee?

Created by British artist Luke Jerram, MARS uses a large suspended sphere and surround sound to give the shopping centre an imagined cosmic setting. Scale is part of its interest: people, stalls and the planet can appear in one view, giving an otherwise familiar circulation space a new centre of attention. Visitors taking photographs can begin with an overall view from a position that keeps circulation clear, then move closer to study the surface.

Blood orange, tomato and coffee: what is on the menu?

Hopping Turtle Coffee offers a blood orange Yakult sparkling espresso. Duet Cups combines tomato and beetroot in its Witch’s Bubbly Red Soup Coffee Soda, while The Bathtub’s Bloody Eye Coffee uses a blood-red gradient. The announced recipes move coffee beyond bitterness towards acidity, sweetness, vegetables, fruit and bubbles, tying the drinks to Halloween imagery.

A useful starting point is whether you want a refreshing fruit-led drink or a more savoury combination, followed by questions about coffee strength and sweetness. These descriptions follow published recipes rather than a personal tasting. Preferences for cultured milk drinks, tomato and coffee vary, so starting with one compelling cup may reveal more than ordering several for their appearance alone.

Coffee also enters the food

Pigsman and The Doughbox put coffee into a mini lemon coffee pork-patty burger and handmade pork meatballs with cream cheese coffee sauce. Table Culture prepares Halloween pumpkin puffs and caramel popcorn puffs. Food and drinks can be chosen separately: after a strong special drink, comparing portion sizes and savoury or sweet options helps keep the combination balanced.

Coffee’s changing role is the point of interest, becoming part of a sauce or filling rather than the main drink. Ingredients and preparation can be checked at each stall. Anyone with dietary restrictions should ask directly, particularly about dairy and other ingredients that may not be apparent from a product name.

When are the Tokyo guests appearing?

Shinya Kissa Genso and Rauhaa Koffee join the October 31–November 1 finale for live pour-over service. Some stalls remain open until 10pm on October 31; the extension does not automatically apply to every vendor. A Walk me to Mars seed card also links used coffee grounds to a planting idea. Before heading out, check Langham Place’s announcements for stall hours and redemption terms, then plan a route around the installation, a special drink and the brewing session you most want to see.
