He decided to take a gamble and blurted out: "Do you guys know Jennifer Lopez? Have you seen The Wedding Planner? That's me — I'm the guy."
"The Wedding Planner" is a 2001 romantic comedy in which Lopez plays a wedding planner who falls for her client's fiancé — the fiancé being McConaughey's character. The film has since become something of a cult classic among rom-com fans, though no one could have guessed it would one day double as a border-crossing pass.
Once the officers recognized him, their response was to ask for a photo, then wave him through. McConaughey told the story in a casual, almost amused tone, like even he couldn't quite believe how it went down.
