After nearly three decades as a solo experience, the career mode is finally letting friends play together. 2K held its first live reveal event for NBA 2K27 at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, unveiling the game's biggest change during a 45-minute livestream: Co-Op Mode. Players can now invite friends into their own MyCAREER, marking the first time the series has opened up its solo career mode to two-player co-op. The studio described it as adding a layer of "collaboration and competition" to the experience.
Another new system revealed at the event is called Eras. The name says it all: players can build their MyCAREER journey across five iconic basketball eras, spanning from the Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird rivalry, through Michael Jordan's dominant reign, all the way to Steph Curry's still-active career. With such a wide timeline, the system essentially folds different generations' playstyles and rules into a single career mode.
