Pringles' Halloween Sweepstakes Offers Custom Urn and 200 Years of Chip Supply

For Halloween 2026, Pringles has launched its "Once You Drop" campaign, blending its signature can packaging with a death theme through dark humor, offering devoted snack lovers a peculiar proposition: trade their final resting place for a 200-year supply of chips, turning the instantly recognizable can shape into a holiday campaign.

What's in the prize?

The centerpiece of the campaign is a custom urn forged from precious metal, modeled precisely on the proportions of a Pringles can, featuring a removable lid and personalized engraving, deliberately preserving the classic size and recognizability of the original chip can. Winners will also receive what the brand calls a "afterlife" supply of chips lasting up to two centuries, which, per the campaign's design, can legally be willed to descendants, extending the connection between the brand and the winner's family.

Inspired by a true story

This slightly macabre concept didn't come out of nowhere—it draws on a real event: after Fredric Baur, the chemist and packaging pioneer who invented the Pringles can, passed away in 2008, his family honored his wishes by placing some of his ashes in a Pringles can he himself had designed, which was then buried with him. The brand's team chose to recreate this quirky piece of history in the campaign, turning one of the most unusual chapters of its own brand lore into the centerpiece of a marketing activation.

How the brand and its spokesperson frame it

Mauricio Jenkins, brand and content lead for Mars Snacking North America's salty snacks division, spoke about the campaign, playing on the brand's slogan "Once You Drop" to suggest that even after a fan "drops" (passes away), the joy of popping open a can of chips lives on. The promotional video stars licensed funeral director Dan McDonald, known on social media as @DanTheFuneralMan, whose background in the funeral industry lends the darkly humorous campaign an air of authenticity and buzz.

How to enter and the timeline

The sweepstakes is open for entry on the official Pringles website, where participants must sign a digital document titled the "Will and Taste Buds Pledge." Entry is limited to legal residents of the United States and Washington, D.C. who are 18 or older, excluding fans from outside the US from eligibility. Entries close at 11:59 PM Eastern Time on October 22, and the brand expects to notify winners around October 31. This is a sweepstakes limited to US and Washington, D.C. residents, not a global giveaway open to participants in Taiwan.
