Taipei Nuit Blanche 2026: NIGHT KA SHI Connects Art Across Yuanshan on October 31

Taipei Nuit Blanche 2026 will be held in Yuanshan and surrounding neighborhoods from 2 pm on October 31 to 2 am on November 1, with the theme of "NIGHT KA SHI", starting from the flow and improvisational spirit of Nakashi culture. This time it is also connected with the Taipei Digital Art Festival and MAAGIC Yuanshan Public Art Project, but the exhibition periods of the three events are different, so you should check separately when arranging visits.

What to watch during the Nuit Blanche? From an exhibition venue to a neighborhood

The scope of activities covers Yuanshan Natural Landscape Park, Flower Expo Yuanshan and Xinsheng Park, Minzu East Road, the surrounding areas of Qingguang Market and the campus of Tatung University. More than 30 art works and 50 performances put installations, sounds and dances into different spaces. The way of viewing has also been extended from standing in front of the works to walking and staying in the city.

Works include Yao Zhonghan's "Electro-Light Beast #51 — Midnight Music Box", Zhang Tengyuan's "Parrot Mimicry - Counting Sheep" and Yao Ruizhong's "Where Are the Titans?" and other works. French choreographer Jann Gallois's "Block Party" is oriented towards audience participation. Works in different formats may not all appear at the same time slot and should be arranged according to the official program schedule.

Why is the Digital Art Festival called "Gray Automata"?

The 21st Taipei Digital Art Festival explores the relationship between artificial intelligence, data computing, and humans and non-humans with "Gray Automata". It will be exhibited at the Taipei Dianchang Botanical Garden (臺北典藏植物園) and partner stores from October 31 to November 15. Its duration is longer than that of Nuit Blanche. If you miss the night-time event, you can still check the subsequent exhibition schedule.

Participating content includes Jed Berk's "Belugas’ Sphere", C-LAB Future Vision Laboratory's Mini Dome immersive audio-visual space, and an art store plan that brings works into surrounding business districts. Sound, machine and space each provide different viewing entrances. It is suitable to choose the form that interests you most first, rather than trying to visit the entire venue at once.

MAAGIC Yuanshan, which urban memory does it start from?

The MAAGIC Yuanshan public art project is curated by Liu Zhihong, starting from the activities of the US military advisory group in Taiwan and the cultural exchanges around Yuanshan. The main works include Li Chengliang's "The Giant Sitting All Month", Huang Guanjie's "Americano" and Liao Xiaozi's "Customized Flag Planting". The exhibition will be held from October 17th to November 8th.

This project puts historical clues back into contemporary neighborhoods, rather than just using old photos as a backdrop. For those who want to slowly see public art, they can choose to visit during the day and observe the relationship between the works and surrounding parks, buildings and pedestrians. They do not have to limit all their experiences to the night of October 31.

How to arrange a visit? First distinguish the date and program time

Nuit Blanche is a free urban art event that runs overnight until 2 a.m.; the Digital Art Festival and the Public Art Project each have their own daily opening arrangements. Before planning, you canNuit Blanche official websiteSelect a few works, and then connect them with the distance between the venues and the program time, and also check the return transportation.

The three plans jointly make Yuanshan the entrance to the city of reading, but there is no need to aim at visiting all points. By choosing a performance, an installation, or a block and staying there for a while, you can often better see how the work changes the feeling of a familiar place; when it comes to programs or opening adjustments, the official information of the day shall prevail.
