AIGLE by SETCHU: Satoshi Kuwata Brings Fishing, Origami and Tailoring Outdoors
The first collaboration with the 2023 LVMH Prize winner explores shape and versatility through a three-layer safari jacket, a long skirt and mixed-material outerwear.
AIGLE has launched its first AIGLE by SETCHU collaboration with SETCHU founder Satoshi Kuwata. The 2023 LVMH Prize winner combines fishing experience, Japanese origami and Western tailoring in a Fall/Winter 2026 capsule that pays close attention to shape and change. More than an outdoor collection carrying a fashion name, it offers a chance to examine how pockets, folds and mixed materials respond to the moving body.

Why AIGLE and Satoshi Kuwata?
Born in Kyoto, Kuwata explores the meeting of cultures and garment structures through SETCHU, with a design language influenced by Savile Row tailoring. He is also a keen angler, bringing outdoor requirements for storage and movement to clothes with a more formal presence. AIGLE supplies an outdoor clothing background, while SETCHU proposes new proportions through folding and cutting. The collaboration therefore concerns how a garment unfolds, is worn and can be packed, as much as its colours.
A-shaped folds and twin stripes become identifying details
Earth tones and clean lines establish a shared foundation. A collaboration emblem references the twin stripes of AIGLE’s rubber boots, alongside A-shaped folds and details. When a mark relates to the garment’s construction rather than remaining only a flat print, function and identity can work together more quietly. Product images are worth comparing in both flat and worn views to see how folds control volume.
Pieces include a three-layer water-repellent safari jacket, a trench-inspired long skirt, packable fleece and insulated outerwear. A mixed-material trench establishes contrasts between surfaces, while the skirt moves the language of a coat onto the lower body. The official description identifies some items as water-repellent; that does not make every piece suitable for prolonged heavy rain. Material and use information should be read item by item.

How can a functional piece fit into a city wardrobe?
One structured outer layer can be added to an existing shirt-and-trouser combination, keeping the inside simple. If the skirt is the focus, the upper half can carry fewer details. Packability and insulation can be adjusted to a journey, but campaign styling cannot replace a fitting. Shoulder position, sleeve length and room for layers remain practical tests of whether a piece works from commuting to time outdoors.
Separate Fall/Winter 2026 from the Spring/Summer 2027 preview
AIGLE Japan officially launched the autumn/winter collection on September 16, 2026. The Paris presentation also included a preview of Spring/Summer 2027, so the two seasons should not be treated as entirely available at the same time. Taiwan shoppers should follow local announcements for products, sizing and dates rather than applying Japanese pop-up schedules to their own market.

The collection’s interest lies in clothes that retain flexibility for changing conditions while developing character through folds and materials. Starting with a frequently worn outer or middle layer makes it easier to judge whether the collaboration fits everyday needs. The full range and individual specifications can be explored in AIGLE’s official introduction.
