AMC shares surged 21% overnight, but what's really sparking discussion isn't the rally itself—it's the public showdown between AMC's CEO and Robinhood that fueled it. The CEO called Robinhood's tokenized AMC shares "outrageous," questioning how such products could package the stock into on-chain assets and push them to market without the company's authorization.
This isn't the first time Robinhood has run into trouble over tokenized stocks. OpenAI previously leveled similar criticism at comparable products, stating that its own shares had been turned into tokenized versions without the company ever agreeing to such a transfer arrangement. Both companies share the same stance: putting stocks on-chain shouldn't be something a platform can decide unilaterally.
As for whether Robinhood will adjust its product or issue a response, public information has yet to address this, and further clarification is still pending.
