No new colorways this time — BEAMS is faithfully reproducing the Converse All Star from the year it was founded, right down to the ankle patch and the original-spec box, all rebuilt to 1970s specs.
This shoe's design year is older than the brand itself — 1976, the exact year BEAMS was founded. For this 50th anniversary Converse All Star collab, BEAMS didn't bother sketching new graphics or adding fresh colorways. Instead, it went and brought back the very shoe from the year it was born.
The side stitching, the Notched Ankle Patch, and the cotton laces are all rebuilt to match the original 1976 specs. This isn't your typical "collab redesign" — it's closer to a research-driven reproduction: first confirming exactly what the shoe looked like back then, then recreating it one-to-one.
The upper uses washed-out black canvas, paired with an off-white rubber trim that carries a vintage feel — the aged look is baked directly into the materials rather than layered on through prints or slogans. The heel tag reads "MADE FOR BEAMS," clearly stating what this shoe actually is: not Converse lending BEAMS its name for a promo, but BEAMS putting its own birth year back on its feet.
Even the packaging doesn't skip over the 1970s. The shoe comes with a dedicated box designed after the era, so the whole package — from the shoe itself to the outer box — stays locked in the same year, making it feel more like a collector's piece than just another new sneaker to wear.
