Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" Gets Limited Vinyl Reissue, Remastered via One-Step Process

This is the album that transformed Billy Idol from a band frontman into a solo superstar—and now, over four decades later, it's getting the full vinyl-craft treatment at the highest possible spec. Interscope-Capitol has announced a 180-gram all-analog One-Step vinyl edition of "Rebel Yell," dropping November 20, with pre-orders open now; the indie record store version follows on December 18.

The original "Rebel Yell" was released on November 10, 1983, marking Idol's second solo album after leaving Generation X—and the one that truly cemented his status as a solo artist. Produced by Keith Forsey with Steve Stevens on guitar, the album peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and went double platinum in the U.S. The single "Eyes Without a Face" became Idol's first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 4, while the title track and "Flesh for Fantasy" remained radio and MTV staples for years.

This reissue was remastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering straight from the original master tapes, limited to 3,000 numbered copies. Each vinyl comes with a gatefold inner sleeve and outer box, plus an authenticity certificate detailing the mastering, plating, and pressing process—for vinyl collectors, that certificate alone is a selling point, laying the entire production chain bare for buyers to see.

The tracklist stays true to the original nine songs: Side A features "Rebel Yell," "Daytime Drama," "Eyes Without a Face," and "Blue Highway"; Side B includes "Flesh for Fantasy," "Catch My Fall," "Crank Call," "(Do Not) Stand in the Shadows," and "The Dead Next Door."

Pricing has not been announced.
