Cage The Elephant Announce 2027 "Dying In Reverse" European and UK Tour

The tour name is borrowed directly from a song that hasn't even been released yet. Cage The Elephant have put the words "Dying In Reverse" front and center on the poster—even though the title track itself won't officially drop until this Thursday (September 10). The band is framing their 2027 European and UK tour around a song that chronicles their frontman's mental health crisis.

The "Dying In Reverse" tour kicks off on February 8, 2027 at Tempodrom in Berlin, Germany, before making stops in Krakow, Poland; Hamburg and Düsseldorf, Germany; Antwerp, Belgium; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Milan, Italy; Lausanne, Switzerland; and Zenith in Paris, France, wrapping the continental European leg on February 20 before heading to the UK.

The UK leg kicks off at Depot in Cardiff on February 22, followed by O2 Academy Leeds (February 23), O2 Academy Glasgow (February 25), O2 Academy Birmingham (February 26), and Victoria Warehouse in Manchester (February 28), before wrapping up at London's Alexandra Palace on March 1. This marks the Kentucky six-piece's first return to the UK and Europe since 2025, when they sold out two consecutive nights at London's Brixton Academy.

Frontman Matt Shultz said in a statement, "We're beyond excited to be heading back to Europe and the UK—the fans there have always had our backs, and we can't wait to get out there and play the new music for them." Tickets go on general sale this Friday (September 11) at 10am local time, with a presale opening on September 9 at the same time.

The tour announcement follows the band's release of their new single "Beaches In Tennessee" last month, marking their first new music in two years. Shultz has revealed the song is a fictionalized account of his own past mental health crisis—in 2023, he was detained at a hotel after being found in possession of a firearm that was only legal to carry in Kentucky and Tennessee. A court later determined the arrest stemmed from a psychotic delusional episode triggered by a side effect of prescription medication.

"That arrest was absolutely a miracle," Shultz told NME back in 2024. "It saved my life. After the arrest I was hospitalized for two months, followed by six months of outpatient treatment, and now I feel completely recovered. But obviously recovery is a lifelong process—once you've been through something like that, you can't live without carrying the scars."

He described the new music as a "new chapter" for the band: "We've always wanted to reinvent Cage The Elephant. We discovered a whole new side of the band, including how we see things and how we create. As artists, you're constantly growing, and I feel like we really captured that growth. I honestly think this is the best music we've ever made—if anything, it's the most inspired we've ever been."

The band had just wrapped up their run as special guests on Oasis's "Live '25" tour last year before heading straight into the studio. "The Oasis tour reignited our passion for dreaming, for continuing to dream," Shultz said. "I think we realized there's still room for us to evolve and push boundaries, especially when it comes to live performance. We didn't take a break after the tour—we went almost directly back into the studio to start making music."

Details of the band's seventh studio album will be announced at a later date. For now, only two singles have been confirmed: "Dying In Reverse," out September 10, and "Beaches In Tennessee," released last month.
