No official announcement, no press release—just a selfie and one line: "I have 11 songs." Clairo (real name Claire Cottrill) confirmed in the most direct way possible on Instagram this week that her fourth album is taking shape—11 songs already in hand.
It's the first time she's revealed a concrete number for the new project since 2024's "Charm." Before this, the clues were scattered across sporadic social posts. Back in March, a studio photo showed a piece of tape handwritten with "Clairo 4"; in May, she posted a photo of the recording space captioned "the boys working hard"; then in June came a shot of her sitting at a keyboard and synths, captioned simply "It's serious now." Pieced together, these fragments trace her studio movements this year, though what exactly she's recorded—and who she's working with—remains unsaid.
"Charm" earned Clairo her first Grammy nomination, for Best Alternative Music Album, ultimately losing to St. Vincent's "All Born Screaming." The album's tour also brought her unexpected viral fame—a clip of a fan rap battle at a North American show went viral online, prompting her to add headline dates across the UK and Europe.
Last year she signed a new record deal with Atlantic and played festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and All Things Go NYC, as well as opening for Sabrina Carpenter at BST Hyde Park in London. During the new album's preparation, her name has also surfaced on other projects: she featured on Smerz's remix of "You Got Time And I Got Money," lent vocals to Rostam's album "American Stories," and contributed to Ryan Beatty's new project "Sweet Fortune."
No album title, release date, or tracklist details have surfaced yet—for now, all we have is the signal that 11 songs are done.
