Emma Corrin on Pride and Prejudice: courage, humor and movement in Elizabeth Bennet

In a new public interview, Emma Corrin talks about the new version of Pride and Prejudice, the courage of the character Elizabeth, and how humor can change the way audiences receive emotions. Netflix has announced that this six-episode series is scheduled to be launched on December 3, 2026. It will be written by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn. Corrin and Jack Lowden will play Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy respectively.

Elizabeth’s courage does not mean that she will never make mistakes in judgment.

In the interview, Corrin appreciated the character's willingness to express her thoughts and defend her beliefs, but also saw that she might be obscured by her own prejudices. This makes Elizabeth not just a strong label, but a character who has initiative and needs to re-understand others.

When rewatching a familiar story, you can observe when she speaks, when she changes her mind, and how the dialogue affects the relationship. The character's appeal does not necessarily come from being right every time, but from how she faces the judgments she originally believed in, allowing growth to appear in specific scenes.

Running and walking, putting the body back into period drama

It was mentioned in the public interview that running and walking are Corrin’s favorite filming sequences, and they are also connected to the feeling that the characters decide where to go independently. This provides a way to watch: not just what the character says, but how she uses space, when she moves, and how far away she is from other characters.

Clothing here is more than just a period setting. The movement of the skirt and outer layer with the body affects whether the character looks restrained, eager, or relaxed; however, the actor's feelings about the filming should not be directly extended into a complete conclusion about the costume history of the entire era.

Humor and sadness can deepen each other in the same story

Corrin believes that light moments can allow people to establish a connection with the characters first, and then when encountering darker plots, the emotions may be more vivid. This is the actor's understanding of the relationship between the performance and the audience, rather than claiming that the work is just a light comedy or that every audience must have the same reaction.

The pacing of the dialogue is therefore noteworthy. Pauses, reactions and mutual testing can give new weight to familiar plots; if you only pursue major events or famous scenes, you may ignore the process of characters gradually getting closer in smaller interactions.

The CELINE fashion editorial and the period costumes are separate images

The fashion images released during the same period are presented in CELINE clothing, including red dresses, leather, imitation fur and looser trousers. They provide another image of Corrin as a contemporary actor, and the fashion shooting costumes cannot be directly regarded as Pride and Prejudice looks.

When looking at the images, you can first compare materials, necklines and silhouettes, and then return to the character discussion; both are related to performance, but serve different stories and occasions. This also prevents the same actor from being fixed by a single period drama impression.

When will it be launched online? How to know this version?

Netflix official series introductionThe online schedule for December 3 has been listed, and the six-episode format and main actors have been confirmed. If you want to prepare before the show starts, you can read the official character and trailer information before deciding whether to re-read the novel or compare different adaptations.

The key takeaway from this public conversation is how courage, humor and physical movement came together to shape Elizabeth. Being familiar with the story can still lead to new ways of entering, and retaining curiosity about the details of the performance when watching is often more rewarding than just asking which version is most like the character in memory.
