A family mix-up forced 92-year-old Frankie Valli to personally clarify on Instagram: "Whatever you've heard, I have not retired." The whole thing started when his brother Bobby Valli posted a photo of the two of them from 2025 on Facebook last week, with a caption that read like a farewell message.
Bobby wrote in the post: "I'm so proud of my brother Frankie, and I love him dearly. He's had an amazing life, a dream come true. He's an incredible singer with a brilliant career, an icon, a living legend." After listing his brother's achievements, Bobby added: "He's retiring now."
That statement was clearly premature. Frankie himself soon denied the retirement rumors on his own Instagram account, prompting Bobby to quickly issue a correction on Facebook: "I apologize, I was given wrong information. I thought my brother Frankie was retiring. I hope he gets well soon and continues his amazing career!"
The source of the confusion was actually Frankie Valli's earlier decision this year to cancel the remaining dates of his 2026 tour. The Four Seasons legend, known for singing "Grease," had originally planned to extend his farewell "The Last Encores Tour"—which kicked off in 2023—through November of this year, but ultimately decided to pull the plug.
"I'm sorry to disappoint those who already bought tickets, but I've decided not to tour for the rest of the year so I can focus on my health," he said in a statement at the time. "I look forward to getting back to good health and seeing everyone again soon. Thank you all for your well wishes."
This isn't the first time Frankie Valli has made headlines over health concerns. Two years ago, he drew attention over a performance clip that some claimed showed him lip-syncing and falling out of sync with the music, prompting him to release a statement in response. Last year, he was among the recipients of the Grammy's Special Merit Awards for lifetime achievement, an honor given to artists who have made significant contributions to the music industry.
No further information is currently available regarding Frankie Valli's future touring plans or his health condition.
