Shanghai Bund BBQ Party JUJU Is Back — This Time Taking Over the Old Cannery Spot

The name JUJU rings a bell for anyone who remembers what Shanghai Bund nightlife was like a few years back. It opened in 2019 at Three on the Bund, built around a "grill and chug" party vibe — all-you-can-eat BBQ paired with free-flowing drinks, soju shots one after another, plus live karaoke. It was the kind of place where dinner turned into a dance floor. It couldn't survive the pandemic and shut down in October 2020.

Now JUJU is back, and it's picked an interesting spot for its comeback — the old Cannery location on Yuqiaqing Road. That's no coincidence: JUJU's original concept was actually dreamed up by Cannery founder Mark Klingspon, so this is essentially the same guy relighting the grill in his own former space, just under a different brand he built.

As for whether the old ¥288 all-you-can-eat deal will make an exact return, that hasn't been confirmed yet. More likely, it'll be reserved as a limited-time offer for special events rather than an everyday thing. What's for sure is that the vibe won't get tamed down — expect the same affordable, laid-back, street-style energy, with soju bombs and live karaoke still very much part of the package.

JUJU is slated to open in mid-September, with the exact date and menu yet to be announced.
