Matthieu Blazy’s CHANEL Spring/Summer 2027: movement, memory and Smocked Tweed
The public design description focuses on the different aspects of Gabrielle Chanel, the movement space of clothing and the new tweed. Recognizing a brand goes beyond buttons, chains and logos.
In the CHANEL 2027 spring and summer series, Matthieu Blazy thinks about brand history, physical activity and material research and development together.
The public design description mentioned that he not only started from the image of the suit that has been remembered repeatedly, but also cared about Gabrielle Chanel's clothes and attitudes at different stages of life, making it possible to rearrange familiar memories.

A brand character does not have just one representative photo
Brand history is often condensed into a few classic items, but clothing that characters have worn, liked or rejected can also provide different entrances.
The versatility that Blazy mentioned allows the design to not only rotate between fixed symbols, but to look back and ask how those images were formed.
For the viewer, you can first look at the series and the familiar CHANEL impression to find out which silhouettes continue the memory and which ones push the body proportions elsewhere.
History here is not a list of things that must be done, but material that continues to generate problems.

Allowing the body to move is part of the silhouette
Chanelize in the design description is not just about adding logo buttons or chains, but also about how the clothes are worn.
The open coat, skirt slits and freer movements allow historical clues to leave the original tighter structure and face today's body again.

When looking at the catwalk, you can pay attention to the position of the skirt, coat opening and shoulder caused by the pace, instead of just stopping at the frontal freeze-frame photo.
The lines of clothing will expand when moving, and the same set of clothes may have different expressions compared to static product photos.
Smocked Tweed, making material development a design problem
The Smocked Tweed mentioned this season combines tweed with wrinkles, elasticity and a softer feel.
The public description also talks about yarn and machine adjustments, showing that the production conditions behind the new surface are not just changing the existing pattern to a different color.

This provides a more concrete way of looking at it: first to see how the material folds, drapes and responds to the body, and then to see if the appearance still retains the identity of tweed.
The research and development vocabulary describes specific fabrics, and it should not be directly inferred that every item in the series has the same care or no-iron conditions.
Art and stage, providing atmosphere also need to be transformed into costumes
Painting, opera, and music have their place in the public description, but in the end they still have to be translated into colors, shapes, and craftable clothing.
When colors are laid out like brushstrokes, or silhouettes have a more dramatic expression, the focus is on how they work into the garment, not just naming the inspiration.

When observing, you can choose a particularly impressive look and look at the main color, local decoration and the space between the body separately.
This makes it easier to understand why the same inspiration may produce completely different results when applied to different clothing.

From historical symbols to specific ways of wearing
What this season’s series provides is the thought of putting brand identity into movements and materials.
Buttons, textures and suiting still have historical weight, but how they are worn, how they move, and how they are made enable new silhouettes to be established also play a part in the brand's contemporary look.

For those who want to get to know the new season of CHANEL, you can start with three things: comparing familiar and unfamiliar silhouettes, looking at the clothes when walking around, and taking a close look at the fabrics.
These specific observations will lead the series discussion from abstract style labels back to the clothing itself.
