The recording comes from Maxwell's, a 200-capacity venue in Hoboken, New Jersey, captured back in October 2007. Compared to My Chemical Romance's current scale—five consecutive nights at the Hollywood Bowl—"Someone Out There Loves You" sounds like a transmission from another era entirely. The track has never been officially released until now, finally surfacing eighteen years after it was recorded.
This marks the second preview track released from the 20th anniversary reissue of The Black Parade. The full reissue is set to drop on October 23, featuring the complete original 2006 tracklist alongside six bonus tracks: three live recordings from that Hoboken show, plus three B-sides scattered across various past releases. The live version of "The Sharpest Lives," released last month as the first preview, had previously only been available on the DVD accompanying the 2008 live album The Black Parade Is Dead!—this marks its first appearance on streaming. "Someone Out There Loves You" carries forward the album's restless, edgy spirit, also pulled from that same Hoboken performance.
The reissue's artwork is handled by James Jean, the artist behind the original cover art. The band says they commissioned him to "return to the world of The Black Parade and create three brand new pieces." Reflecting on the album's birth two decades ago, the band wrote in a statement: "Twenty years ago, we wrote what would become The Black Parade, our third album and the follow-up to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge... All we knew was that we'd made something crazy, and we couldn't wait to put it out into the world. Now, twenty years later, we're celebrating its birth and, for the first time, bringing together everything we created during that recording period into one complete body of work."
