NAMACHEKO’s Harajuku Archive Event Presents More Than 50 Garments

Harajuku boutique THE ELEPHANT is scheduled to hold the second chapter of the NAMACHEKO archives display and sales event from October 23 to 25, 2026, in conjunction with designer Dilan Lurr’s visit to Japan. This time, knitwear is the focus, and more than 50 pieces of clothing have been gathered, including show pieces that have not been generally sold in the past. The space is also designed by the designer himself, so that the files are not only arranged by season.

Archives, show items and seasonal products are different time relationships

Brand archival events bring pieces from different eras back together, unlike a store that only displays the current season’s collections. Generally unsold show items also provide another viewing angle: clothing once appeared in specific presentation situations, but now it enters closer display and sales situations.

This does not mean that every archival garment is of the same rarity, nor does it mean that all are originals that were worn by models on stage. If you are interested in a certain item, you should confirm the year, version and status of each item one by one, rather than just using the words "archive" or "show piece" in the event and assigning the same history to the entire batch of goods.

Knitting becomes the main thread, what details can you see up close?

The silhouette of knitted fabrics is often affected by the yarn, knitting method, density and weight of the garment itself. When comparing works from different periods, you can first look at the shoulder lines, cuffs and hems, then pay attention to how the surface textures are connected, and observe how the brand continues to adjust familiar top forms.

If you are allowed to try on the clothes on site, you can also compare the changes after the clothes leave the hanger: whether the length of the clothes sag, how the shoulders fall, and whether the inner layer will change the original volume. These are all ways to understand the work. Just because the material is expensive or the age is older, it does not automatically mean it is more suitable for daily wear.

Furniture and artwork give clothes another background

The space will display works by George Nakashima, as well as furniture and art from Dilan Lurr’s collection. They appear together with the clothing, providing clues to the designer's selection of objects and arrangement of sight lines, but should not be taken directly to mean that all furniture is sold simultaneously, or that each piece of clothing is directly inspired by a certain piece of furniture.

For those who are concerned about retail space, you can look at the height of the furniture, the relationship between the surface and the clothing, which places are suitable for staying, and which places allow the clothing to be seen alone. The designer's choice of space is part of understanding the brand's world, not just a background suitable for taking pictures.

Signature event on October 24th, please confirm your participation qualifications first

The three-day event is from October 23rd to 25th, and a Dilan Lurr signature event will be arranged for buyers on October 24th. Buyer-only conditions are different from general store visits. The actual time, process and items that can be signed still need to be confirmed according to the store's arrangements on the day.

If the purpose of this trip is to collect, you can first sort out the periods and items you want to compare, and then ask about the size, condition and price of each piece. If you just want to know the brand, you can start with the juxtaposition of knitting and space. More than fifty works provide a comparative breadth. What is really worth spending time is to see which ideas are continued and where there are changes between different costumes.
