On the set of a game show styled after the '80s and '90s, the host takes the stage — none other than Talking Heads' David Byrne. It's the most unexpected scene in the music video for Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan's collaboration "Expectations Remix," directed by Bardia Zeinali. The two singers play rival contestants on the fictional program, dubbed "The Big Expectations Show," while producer Dan Nigro appears as a special guest.

The original "Expectations" appeared on Rodrigo's third album, *You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love*. This remix was produced by frequent collaborator Dan Nigro, giving the track a lighter, more playful vibe than the original. It's also the first time Rodrigo and Roan have officially teamed up on a song together.

This isn't the first time their paths have crossed. Back in late August, Rodrigo held the inaugural edition of her all-female music festival Daisy Chain Fields at Great Park in Irvine, California, with Roan among the lineup. For the closing set that day, Rodrigo also brought out Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette, and Sarah McLachlan. As for David Byrne, he was invited as a special guest during Rodrigo's 2025 Governors Ball performance — making this MV collaboration feel like a natural continuation.

The remix arrives as Rodrigo's "Unraveled" world tour kicks off in Connecticut, with Wolf Alice as the opening act. Due to overwhelming demand, additional dates have been added, including an exclusive UK residency at London's The O2, currently scheduled for 11 nights from April 5 to May 10, 2027.

The album behind the tour, *You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love*, was released this past June and received a four-and-a-half-star review from NME, which described Rodrigo as "a mainstream pop star unafraid to get weirder and more brilliant with her songwriting." The "Expectations Remix ft. Chappell Roan" is now available in limited physical formats, including 7-inch vinyl, CD, and cassette.
