Paris Jackson Reveals Septum Hole from Drug Use: The See-Through Hole, Detailed Publicly for the First Time Six Years After Getting Sober

Ahead of her new album *Happiest Day Of My Life* dropping this Friday, Paris Jackson opened up on a podcast about the hole in her septum left by drug use, describing the scar as something that whistles and lets you see straight through.

Paris Jackson Reveals Septum Hole from Drug Use: The See-Through Hole, Detailed Publicly for the First Time Six Years After Getting Sober

The hole isn't a figure of speech. Paris Jackson says her septum isn't just deviated—it's perforated—it whistles, and looking in the mirror, you can see straight through to the other side. The revelation came during her appearance on Jay Shetty's podcast *On Purpose*, just days before the release of her second studio album, *Happiest Day Of My Life*.

Michael Jackson's daughter, who is also an actress, recalled on the show the moment she first discovered the wound. "I was completely freaked out," she said. "There was blood everywhere. I looked in the mirror and I saw it." She mentioned later seeing a doctor, who told her the damage could be repaired, but that if she kept using, the same damage would happen again. "There's only so much reconstructive surgery you can do," she recalled the doctor saying. "If you're not ready to quit yet, I wouldn't recommend doing it now."

According to the UK's NHS, cocaine use can damage blood supply to the septum, leading to perforation. Last November, Paris Jackson confirmed longtime speculation in a TikTok video by shining a light through the hole, captioning it with "kids don't do drugs." This January, she publicly marked six years of sobriety, telling others struggling with mental health that "you are not alone."

The new album, produced by Linda Perry, marks her long-awaited follow-up to her 2020 debut, *Wilted*. That album earned a three-star review from NME, which described her as caught between the folk-pop sensibility of her early work with The Soundflowers and the alt-rock artist she might become—"engaging, uneven, occasionally excellent." *Happiest Day Of My Life* is set for release on Friday, August 21st.

In the interview, she also said she no longer feels obligated to publicly mourn her late father on social media, saying doing so could come across as "performative." "My relationship with my dad is in a really beautiful place, and I cherish that, and it's nobody's business," she said. "I don't need to share that with anyone." This past May, she won a legal battle over her father's estate, with the court ruling that $625,000 must be returned to the trust.
