A watch exhibition’s special editions can discuss mechanics, a city and colour at once. Patek Philippe’s seven Italy-market editions for Watch Art Milan 2026 include the 5978P-010 instantaneous perpetual calendar chronograph, Aquanaut 5167A-014, two 5531G world-time minute repeaters and three Calatravas. Milan connects them, but limited quantities alone do not explain the designs.

The 5978P: look at how information changes
The 5978P-010 combines a 42mm 950-platinum case and manually wound CH 29-535 PS QI calibre in an edition of 120. Calendar windows changing instantaneously provide one way into its mechanical logic, while a deep-blue dial and red chronograph hands separate time, calendar and timing functions visually.
Complexity is more than a component count. Locate the main hands first, then chronograph indications and small windows to understand information hierarchy. Manual and automatic watches also differ in use; calendar setting, winding and maintenance should follow official instructions rather than be attempted from a news feature.
Aquanaut and Milan by day and night
The steel Aquanaut 5167A-014, limited to 250, adjusts a familiar outline with a blue-gradient dial, red minute markings and a red seconds hand. Its transparent back bears Patek Philippe Milano 2026. Identification resides both in front-facing colour and words visible only when turned over, giving commemoration and daily appearance separate layers.

The 5531G-012 and 5531G-013, five pieces each, show Milan by day and night in cloisonné enamel while combining world time and minute repeating. Compare two kinds of light over one city, then enamel, city ring and hands. City names and local language entering time display make Milan more than an inscription on a back.

Three Calatravas divide colour and function
The white 7007G-010 shows date and centre seconds; the red 7047G-010 has minute repeating; the green 7147G-010 has a perpetual calendar. Carbon-style dial patterns are a visual treatment, not evidence that their white-gold cases are carbon fibre.

For collectors and design readers, separate material, function, geographic allocation and production numbers before remembering “seven”. Italy-market editions do not establish direct Hong Kong or Taiwan availability, and scarcity does not promise appreciation. Ask authorised channels about allocation, price and supply. Understanding mechanics and city imagery separately reveals seven responses to a shared exhibition context.
