"I felt like I was covered in shit," is how Remi Wolf describes her state before finishing 'Mud.' The album title itself is an extension of that sticky, grimy feeling — but she says that by the time production wrapped, she felt clean and clear instead, as if she'd been through a total washing.

The Palo Alto-based singer-songwriter will release her third studio album, 'Mud,' via Island Records on October 9, following up 2024's 'Big Ideas.' The 11-track album includes recent single "Twiggy," with another new song, "Bottle," premiering this Thursday (August 20).

Before "Twiggy" dropped last month, Wolf had already given fans an early preview of the track as a surprise guest during Hayley Williams' set at Newport Folk Festival. She's described the song as being "about exes with no ass and no emotional availability," before adding, "or maybe it's actually about the chaos of addiction? I don't know, you decide."

The recording journey for 'Mud' took a winding path: initial sessions began in Nashville before Wolf relocated to Big Bear, California, to work with longtime collaborator Jared Solomon along with Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin, and Gigi Grombacher — a crew she calls her "family band." The team later regrouped at Electric Lady Studios in New York before finally finishing the album in Joshua Tree.

The full tracklist for 'Mud' is: "Bottle," "Champagne," "Twiggy," "Burn Me Blue," "Jamie," "Covered In Mud," "Moon So High," "I Won't Cry," "Wine Drunk," "Guess," "Yellow Rose."

This marks Wolf's third full-length, following her 2021 debut 'Juno' and 2024's 'Big Ideas.' NME awarded 'Big Ideas' four stars, praising it for "never shying away from contradiction and thorny emotions" and calling it an album "packed with rhythmic fun yet unflinchingly honest." Discussing the album's origins with NME at the time, Wolf said: "In 2022, I stayed home for six weeks, went through a lot, and got thrown into a bunch of situations I'd never dealt with before."

The album is available for pre-order through official channels; release date and pricing details are subject to official announcements.
