Rio Da Yung OG Opens With Cash on a Scale, Drops New Single Teasing September Album "The World Is Yours"
Flint rapper Rio Da Yung OG has released a new single, "Finna Drop (Tour)," leading off his album "The World Is Yours," due out September 11. The lyrics are as brash as ever, taking shots at both Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
If your pockets are stuffed with a full pound of hundred-dollar bills, how much money is that exactly? It's not a math textbook problem — it's a metaphor Rio Da Yung OG throws out himself in his new track, weighing cash on a scale. Bold, and oddly specific.
The prolific Flint, Michigan rapper just dropped his new single "Finna Drop (Tour)," the lead track off his upcoming album "The World Is Yours," set for release September 11, 2026. The song rides a minor-key piano loop with 808 bass that barely lets up, while Rio's flow keeps pressing forward against the beat as usual. One line — "Confident, I'll get in a ring with a boxer / If he hit me too hard, I'ma swing then pop him" — lays out plainly that reckless willingness to fight back even knowing he'll take a hit.
FADER writer Vivian Medithi shadowed Rio for a full day last fall, including stops at On the Radar Radio and EMPIRE's studio. In her piece, she noted that Rio's signature moves — like suddenly flipping to double-time before a hook, or those mid-verse turns that snag right on the drum hits — have grown familiar after a while. Still, "Finna Drop (Tour)" managed to catch her off guard again; she couldn't quite pin down what was different, but she'd found a new angle on him regardless.
In the track, Rio also name-drops Future and Rylo Rodriguez — both of whom already have albums out, effectively taking them out of the chart race. Then he pivots sharply, dropping harsh words on both Kendrick Lamar and Drake, as unforgiving as ever and offering no explanation why.
The album title and September 11 release date are confirmed, with the cover art for "The World Is Yours" provided by his PR team. The full tracklist and any features have yet to be announced.
