Twenty years ago, that Staines street hustler in the neon orange bucket hat and fake urban accent is back—this time facing something he's never been prepared for: becoming a dad. Amazon MGM Studios has released the official trailer for "Ali G: Who Iz I?", with Sacha Baron Cohen suiting back up as Ali G, using his signature hidden-camera mockumentary style to capture the most unexpected chapter yet in this fictional character's life.

The story kicks off when Ali G discovers that his long-term girlfriend Julie—played by Morgana Robinson—is eight months pregnant. The official synopsis reads: "Faced with another mouth to feed, he springs into action and heads to America to reclaim his former glory... only to quickly run into an adversary who threatens the survival of both him and his child." To provide for his family, Ali G decides to cross the pond and make his comeback in America, where he gets into genuine interactions with unsuspecting public figures, continuing his trademark prank-interview routine.

The character of Ali G first appeared on Channel 4's "The 11 O'Clock Show" in 1998, later carrying his own series "Da Ali G Show" and starring in the 2002 film "Ali G Indahouse". The mockumentary approach revived here is the very weapon Cohen has since honed and repeated in "Borat," "Brüno," and "Who Is America?"—letting the character loose in the real world to provoke his subjects' most unguarded reactions.

What's different this time is that Cohen himself is in the director's chair for "Ali G: Who Iz I?", marking his directorial debut on a feature film. The project is led by his production company Four by Two Films, with Petr Jákl and Emily Kob serving as executive producers.
