Samsung Sets August 27 Event, Adding an "Unnamed" New Phone to the S26 Family

Samsung didn't spell out those three letters in its press release, but going by the pattern of recent years, the answer isn't hard to guess. The company announced it will livestream a Galaxy event at 8 AM ET on August 27 via its official website and YouTube channel, covering "the newest addition to the S26 lineup." Following Samsung's usual playbook, Fan Edition (FE) models typically get their own separate launch outside the flagship event, so this late-August livestream can pretty much be read as the official debut of the Galaxy S26 FE.

The FE line has always had a clear identity: cheaper than the flagship, but still a step above Samsung's mid-range phones, built around bringing the core experience of the current flagship down to a more affordable price point. In the event teaser, Samsung described the upcoming S26 model as designed to "bring the core series experience," including the camera, AI features, and the latest version of One UI. That phrasing doesn't confirm the FE branding outright, but it lines up precisely with how Samsung has described past FE generations.

The specs that have leaked so far sketch out a solid, no-frills device: a 6.7-inch AMOLED display at Full-HD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. On the chip side, rumors point to an Exynos 2500 rather than the Qualcomm silicon Samsung uses in its flagships in certain markets — a familiar trade-off for the FE line over the years. The camera setup is a triple-lens configuration: a 50MP main sensor paired with a 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto.
