One Instagram post was all it took to close out a 22-year relationship. On August 20, Erin Magee announced she was stepping down as Supreme's Chief Creative Officer, writing in her post, "Being a part of the World Famous Supreme Team has been the honor of a lifetime." No dramatic farewell, no extra explanation—the brand's longest-serving core figure quietly exited the stage.

Magee joined Supreme in 2004 and held multiple roles throughout her tenure, meaning she witnessed and helped shape the brand's entire journey from a New York street label to a global name. Many of the brand's most iconic pieces and collaborations bear the mark of her direction and development. That's why her departure feels less like a routine personnel change and more like the closing of a chapter in the brand's history.

Worth noting: Magee isn't leaving the fashion industry entirely. Mademe, the womenswear label she founded in 2007, has been increasingly active in recent years, teaming up with Dr. Martens, Alpha Industries, and Courtney Love's band Hole. Many are speculating that she'll now shift her focus to the brand she built herself—though this remains speculation, as Magee has not confirmed her next move in her statement.

Magee's exit adds to Supreme's string of leadership shakeups in recent years. The brand was acquired by VF Corp in 2020, and in 2023, Tremaine Emory resigned as Creative Director after just one year in the role, publicly citing discrimination issues within the company—a controversy that sparked significant backlash at the time. The Creative Director position has remained vacant ever since. Then in 2024, VF Corp sold Supreme to EssilorLuxottica. Now, with the CCO role also open, no successor has been named.
