TDS New Balance and BATONER Rework Sportswear in 100% Cashmere

Gray hoodies and cardigans use a 7-gauge half-cardigan stitch. DSMG’s October 24 preview precedes the October 30 general release.

TDS New Balance and BATONER Rework Sportswear in 100% Cashmere

TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance and BATONER continue their cooperation. For the autumn and winter of 2026, they launch 100% Cashmere hoodies and cardigans with the theme of "Sport Icons Re-Crafted". The two models are scheduled to be sold first at the OPEN HOUSE in Dover Street Market Ginza on October 24th, and will be available in designated stores and official online stores from October 30th; the first sale and general sales are at different times.

Starting from sports uniforms, what changes is the material and structure

The cooperation has continued since 2024. This time, 100% cashmere is used in the collaboration for the first time, and is presented in BATONER's representative 7-gauge half-cardigan stitch. Hoodies and cardigans were originally familiar forms of tops. After being converted into knitted fabrics with three-dimensional textures, the surface, thickness and droop pattern have also become the focus of the design.

The "sports" here refers to the silhouette and inspiration clues. The product cannot be directly regarded as sportswear with specific training functions. If the usage situation involves a lot of sweating, carrying equipment on the back, or frequent machine washing, you should first look at the material and care labels instead of just judging the appropriate method based on the New Balance name.

Gray includes not only color chips, but also stitches and shadows

The series uses gray that is close to the New Balance brand image, allowing hoodies and cardigans to appear in the same color vein. The unevenness of the knitted surface will create shadows under different lights, so gray is not just a flat color, but also changes with the grain and wearing creases.

When matching, you can first compare with denim, dark trousers or lower body of the same color to observe whether you want the knitted surface to be the protagonist or to blend in with the whole. If you use gray for both the upper and lower body, you can also pay attention to the difference in shades and materials to keep the outline clear without pursuing the exact same tone.

Hoodies and cardigans, corresponding to different layer arrangements

The Japanese price of the hoodie is 124,960 yen, and the cardigan is 144,980 yen. The sizes are M, L and XL. Although the two models use the same material direction, the necklines and opening and closing methods are still different: the hood will increase the volume at the back of the neck, and the placket structure will allow more room for exposure and adjustment of the inner wear.

When choosing, you can put on your usual coat to see if the hood or collar is stacked, and also confirm the sleeve length, clothing length and movement space when sitting down. 100% Cashmere explains the fiber composition and does not automatically answer whether the weight, thickness, size of the garment will fit, or how much time it will take to maintain it.

It will be launched on October 24th and will be expanded on the 30th.

If your itinerary happens to be at DSMG OPEN HOUSE, you can first confirm the event admission and product sales arrangements; after October 30, you should check the designated store and online store information. The price in Japan is not the same as the price in Taiwan, and the two dates do not mean that all colors and sizes will be continuously available.

This collaboration can be understood in how familiar silhouettes are reworked: not by adding a ton of logos, but by using fibers, weaves and gray surfaces to change the way a sports top is viewed. For those who like knitting, a closer look at the stitching and opening and closing structure will explain the difference in the work better than just classifying it as a high-priced hoodie.
