A burgundy button set against a grey-white shell — it looks like something pulled straight off a last-century handheld console. That's exactly the color scheme 8BitDo chose for the FlipPad – G Classic Edition. First shown off at CES 2026, this controller is now officially rolling out across Europe, and it makes turning your phone into a handheld gaming device lighter than you'd expect.
Weighing just 31.5 grams, the unit clips directly onto your phone via a USB-C hinge mechanism, no Bluetooth pairing needed. Beyond the signature burgundy face buttons, the design includes a black D-pad, grey Start and Select buttons, plus L1, L2, R1, R2 shoulder buttons and function keys. The overall layout leans toward a full retro handheld configuration rather than a bare-bones mobile gaming joystick.
