MUJI’s NT$2,590 360-degree circulator: USB-C does not make it rechargeable

MUJI’s new 360-degree oscillating air circulator costs NT$2,590 in Taiwan, using multidirectional movement, a DC motor and USB Type-C power for year-round room airflow. Drying laundry on rainy days is one use alongside air conditioning in summer or heating in winter. Circulation differs from dehumidification, and a Type-C connection does not establish an internal battery or compatibility with any phone charger.

Let air pass between clothes rather than only into a corner

Closely packed hangers allow fabric to touch, making it harder for moisture to leave the surface. Spin clothes adequately, leave gaps and direct air between them. Open trouser legs, hoods and overlapping parts of heavy jeans, hoodies and towels. Check seams and pockets before storage so a dry exterior does not conceal moisture carried into a cupboard.

A circulator increases air movement rather than collecting moisture in a tank like a dehumidifier. If a room is already humid, evaporation continues adding moisture to it, requiring a suitable route for removal. Opening windows may not help when outside air is equally damp. Observe humidity first, then choose ventilation or dehumidification instead of assigning the whole drying task to airflow numbers.

Oscillation, timers and power determine placement

The fan offers vertical oscillation from 45 to 90 degrees and horizontal movement from 90 to 360 degrees, adjustable for a drying rack or furniture. MUJI lists operation below 45 dB at maximum airflow and two-, four- and eight-hour timers. Those specifications do not promise the same perceived noise in every room. Stable placement clear of dripping laundry and unobstructed air openings matter more than simply moving it closer.

Power comes through a USB Type-C cable, and requires a separate adapter providing at least 20W output and supporting DC 12V/1.67A. Matching connector shapes do not establish matching voltage and power protocols. Read the adapter’s label rather than checking only whether the cable fits. The brand does not describe the fan as rechargeable; sockets and cable routes remain part of bedroom, living-room or laundry placement.

Removable parts and an aroma case address longer use

Front and rear guards and blades detach for cleaning, with the brand recommending a fuller clean every three to six months. Follow the manual for disassembly and reassembly and disconnect power first. For an appliance used throughout the year, keeping it clean and easy to return to its place can affect use more than its appearance on unboxing.

A central aroma cover, case and pad allow two or three drops of suitable essential oil on the pad as directed, spreading scent with airflow. This adds room fragrance rather than replacing washing or drying. For year-round circulation, operation and care deserve comparison. For persistent high humidity and large quantities of wet clothing, establish where moisture will go before deciding how the fan should deliver air.
