ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH TL: Todd Bracher Leaves Room for Two Time Zones

TL, the ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH collaboration with New York industrial designer Todd Bracher, launched at designated ISSEY MIYAKE stores in Japan on October 22, 2026. Rather than relying on bold colours or elaborate decoration, it arranges twelve-hour and twenty-four-hour scales and four hands across a dial with generous space. Cool Grey and Greige are limited to 100 watches each, 200 in total, at ¥176,000 including Japanese tax.

Two times on one dial

The outer scale shows twelve hours and the inner scale twenty-four, using GMT functionality to display a second time zone. It suits cross-time-zone work, contact with family overseas or travel while retaining home time. Reading it requires distinguishing the two scales: four hands do not make it a chronograph. Two places' times share the dial instead of being divided into additional subdials.

Close photographs show the inner scale as a subtle circular layer, with space remaining between the outer numerals and the dial edge. All four hands extend from the centre, concentrating the visual focus, while the date aperture sits near the inner scale. Up close, the functional differences become visible; from farther away, the watch retains a simple circular expression. How comfortable and legible that arrangement feels is best compared on an actual watch.

Mechanical specifications and industrial design

Official specifications list a stainless-steel case measuring 39.5 mm across and 13.4 mm thick, paired with curved Hardlex and a cow-leather strap. The NH 34 mechanical movement supports manual winding, with a twenty-four-hour hand and dual-time display; water resistance is rated at 5 bar. These are concrete starting points for an everyday watch, particularly because case thickness and crystal curvature together shape its presence beneath a cuff.

The two grey-toned dials are paired with dark or beige-toned straps, showing how a similar form changes between cool and warm colours. Cool Grey can continue the clean palette of black, grey or navy clothes, while Greige relates more easily to khaki, brown and warm knitwear. These are observations about colour combinations, not restrictions on who can wear either version.

A store-exclusive project within ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH

ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH began in 2001, bringing different product designers into a collaboration between MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO and Seiko. TL is offered as an ISSEY MIYAKE store-exclusive model, treating daily life, function and beauty as connected concerns. Bracher’s work across furniture and industrial products also invites consideration of proportion and use, rather than treating the watch solely as a fashion accessory.

Each watch has an edition number. Japanese online reservations began on October 9, followed by store sales from October 22. The total edition size does not establish remaining stock at individual stores, and overseas buyers should distinguish Japanese prices from local conditions. Consult the official TL specifications, then ask designated stores about trying it on. The practical question is how those four hands relate to the times that structure your own day.
