ADERERROR Reworks the Birkenstock Boston Again, This Time Tearing Apart the Upper's Entire Structure

Birkenstock's Boston silhouette turns 50 this year, and its shape has barely changed in decades — but ADERERROR just took a scalpel to its very structure. This isn't a simple colorway or material swap; instead, an oversized flap has been grafted directly onto the upper, held in place with contrast white overlock stitching.

This marks the second collaboration between Seoul-based creative label ADERERROR and Birkenstock, built around the theme "Thread" — a concept that runs through the entire collection, quite literally, via stitching and seams. The two new silhouettes are the Boston Cap and Boston Flap.

The Boston Flap is the more visually loud of the pair, with a completely reworked upper. An exaggerated flap-style tongue folds outward at the top, secured to the shoe body with contrasting white whipstitch. It comes in ADERERROR's signature Ultra Blue, along with an earthy-toned Honey colorway.

The Boston Cap takes a more restrained approach, keeping the classic double-strap leather upper while focusing its energy on a technical-looking leather toe cap up front. It arrives in Black and Camel, leaning closer to something you'd actually reach for in daily rotation.

Both silhouettes carry ADERERROR's signature zigzag embroidery running throughout, paired with tactile stitching details scattered across the uppers — the handmade touches that define this collaboration. Despite the fully reworked uppers, both shoes retain Birkenstock's original ergonomic footbed structure, staying true to the support logic that's defined the brand since the original 1976 prototype.

Pricing and an exact release date have yet to be announced.
