The Superstar's shell toe has always been the shoe's most recognizable feature, and this time its rounded curves have been sanded down and remolded into a squared-off silhouette — that's the first move made by the Superstar Square Ballet, the lead-off piece from the JENNIE x adidas Originals collaboration to be unveiled.
The second move is even more direct: the laces are gone. The original lacing structure has been removed and replaced with a simple elastic strap, completely changing how the shoe goes on and off, with a bow added at the toe as a finishing touch. As a result, the shoe loses the usual sporty edge of a sneaker and gains an ambiguous quality somewhere between a ballet flat and a street-style shoe.
This shoe is the first piece released ahead of the full unveiling of JENNIE and adidas Originals' complete collaborative collection on September 1st. According to reports, the Superstar Square Ballet is priced at $150 USD and will launch first in Korea on September 1, 2026, before rolling out to select retailers worldwide.
