Flip up the tongue, and "RARE AIR" appears in black text on white—this is the most memorable detail of the 2006 Air Jordan 4 "Tour Yellow." Long before "customization" became a buzzword in sneaker culture, Jordan Brand had already built interactivity into a removable Jumpman tongue patch. The shoe is now making its comeback, with an official release date of September 5, 2026, under the style code IO2463-102.
Tour Yellow was born during the AJ4's "LS" (Lifestyle) era after the model's official retirement—a period when the Jumpman began breaking away from traditional court colorways to experiment with bolder color schemes. Two decades later, this remake still follows the AJ4's iconic silhouette: visible Air unit, sculpted midsole, and the signature wing-shaped eyestays all intact. The upper is built on a white leather base, while the midsole features a two-tone splatter effect as a visual focal point. Black accents on the outsole and rear wing eyestays round out the silhouette with crisp contrast lines.
That talking tongue patch later carried over to the Undefeated x Air Jordan 4 collaboration, and the recently released Air Jordan 4 "Rare Air" colorway echoes this same design language—a small detail originally hidden beneath the tongue has unexpectedly become a running Easter egg throughout the AJ4 line.
Pricing and retailer details have yet to be announced, with more information expected to roll out closer to the release date.
