Echo Dot Prices Jump 60%+: Amazon Hikes Prices Across the Board, Blames Memory Costs

Amazon has quietly raised prices across its Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, and eero lineups, with the Echo Dot seeing a jaw-dropping 60% increase. The company points to rising memory and storage component costs as the culprit — though the Ring lineup has been spared entirely.

Echo Dot Prices Jump 60%+: Amazon Hikes Prices Across the Board, Blames Memory Costs

The $50 Echo Dot now costs $80. This isn't some limited edition or a spec bump — it's a straight-up price hike on the entry-level smart speaker itself. A 60% jump makes it the most eye-popping number on Amazon's latest round of price increases.

According to Fortune, Amazon has quietly raised prices across four product lines — Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, and eero — with no formal announcement, and increases ranging from tens of dollars up to nearly $100. Beyond the Echo Dot, the Echo Show 21 jumped from $400 to $500. The Fire TV lineup wasn't spared either: the Fire TV Stick HD went from $35 to $40, while the Fire TV Stick 4K Max climbed from $60 to $85.

E-readers weren't exempt either. The 16GB version of the latest Kindle rose from $110 to $150, and the 16GB Kindle Paperwhite went from $160 to $200. As for the eero home networking lineup, the 3-pack eero 7 climbed from $350 to $400, while the 3-pack eero Pro 7 jumped straight from $700 to $800. Fortune notes that Amazon's Ring lineup is the only category that hasn't seen a price adjustment.

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the price increases to Fortune, attributing them to "a significant rise in memory and storage component costs," while stating the company remains committed to offering affordable products and will continue running promotions throughout the year.

Amazon isn't the first tech company to raise prices due to memory shortages. Earlier this year, Apple hiked prices on hardware like the iPad and MacBook; in July, Roku also raised prices on its devices by as much as $50, citing the same memory cost pressures.
