ASICS GEL-KINETIC FR Returns in Two New Colorways, Paying Homage to Early-2000s Running Prototypes

ASICS GEL-KINETIC FR Returns in Two New Colorways, Paying Homage to Early-2000s Running Prototypes

A sock-like, foot-hugging upper usually signals one thing: the brand wants the shoe to look lighter than it actually is. ASICS' new GEL-KINETIC FR follows that exact playbook — pairing a lightweight build with a close-to-foot wrap that results in a sleek, streamlined profile.

The release arrives in two colorways — "Cocoa Powder/Champagne" and "Black/Pure Silver." The upper features a reworked synthetic side panel, cleaning up what was once a more layered, tech-heavy look into something far more streamlined. According to ASICS, the design draws heavily from the brand's early-2000s running archive, positioning this as a lifestyle-first release built for everyday wear.

On the cushioning side, the shoe carries over the GEL-KINETIC 2.0's midsole logic with Scutoid GEL tech placed directly under the heel for added impact absorption on landing. The sock-lining has also been thickened to deliver extra cushioning through the forefoot, with ASICS saying the goal is a smoother transition underfoot — striking a balance between technical support and a plush ride.

Release dates and pricing for both colorways have yet to be announced.
