An on-chain rollback recovered over 90% of the losses, but a portion of the funds remains stuck off-chain, seemingly gone for good.
Cronos stated that following the exploit of Tectonic, the chain executed a rollback, reversing approximately $111.2 million in fund movements. This figure indicates that the majority of affected assets have been restored through chain-level operations.
But the rollback ultimately couldn't outrun the time gap. Cronos pointed out that before the rollback took effect, $9.2 million had already flowed out of the chain—falling outside the reach of the rollback and remaining unrecovered to date.
Comparing the two figures, the gap between $111.2 million and $9.2 million represents the only confirmed profit-and-loss status of this incident so far—the majority of funds were saved through on-chain operations, while the remaining smaller portion permanently left the system along with the attacker's actions. As of now, Cronos has not announced any specific plan to recover the $9.2 million.
