Nike worked closely with elite hybrid athletes like Dylan Scott, as well as everyday hybrid competitors, testing and refining the system through real training sessions and real competitions.

Nike Hybrid Fly: Purpose-Built for Hybrid Competition
The Nike Hybrid Fly is meticulously engineered for the unique demands of hybrid competition. ZoomX foam paired with a full-length carbon fiber Flyplate, plus dual forefoot Air Zoom units, help athletes hold onto their speed while running—often the deciding factor for pulling ahead in a hybrid race.
This cushioning system sits on a wider, more stable outsole platform that delivers stronger traction, helping athletes stay focused instead of making constant micro-adjustments when transitioning between running and other event stations. The shoe also features a race-ready lace-lock system; a four-zone traction pattern combining high-grip rubber with sidewall wrap for reliable grip and stability across varying surfaces; and an engineered mesh upper with zoned texture for structural support and durability.
Nike hybrid athlete and world champion Dylan Scott said: "I've always wanted a shoe that could give me the snappy propulsion of a carbon-plated running shoe while still holding steady support and dependable grip on the competition floor. In the past you could only get two out of those three. The Nike Hybrid Fly is the first shoe to bring all three together. Combining ReactX foam with a forefoot Air Zoom unit, the Hybrid RN delivers a smooth, responsive stride while still holding steady during strength work. A wide outsole platform and X-pattern upper overlays keep your feet locked in through every transition, dual-density rubber on the outsole provides dependable grip, and the engineered mesh upper keeps your feet comfortable and supported.
Nike hybrid athlete and world champion Lauren Weeks said: "Hybrid fitness demands a lot more from a shoe than regular road running does. You're constantly switching between running and strength work, so you need a shoe built for both. When the shoe can handle that, you can just focus on the competition or the workout instead of thinking about what's on your feet."
