G-SHOCK MR-G Haruka in Taiwan: NT$230,000 and NT$470,000, platinum leaf versus gold leaf
HR is limited to 800 worldwide and HS to 150. Taiwan sales are expected in early November at selected stores; dial leaf, structural colour and packaging have different roles.
For MR-G’s 30th anniversary, Casio Taiwan has announced two G-SHOCK watches inspired by Hiroto Rakusho’s Haruka artwork. MRG-B2100HR-1A has a suggested retail price of NT$230,000, and MRG-B2100HS-9A NT$470,000, with limited sales expected at designated MR-G retailers in early November. Their latticework dials use platinum leaf and gold leaf respectively, with worldwide editions of 800 and 150. Those are global totals, not Taiwan allocations or remaining stock.
Start with the platinum-leaf and gold-leaf dials
The first distinction is the dial’s appearance. HR uses platinum leaf, with silver-toned hands and markers contrasting coolly against a dark lattice in the official image. HS uses gold leaf with gold-toned hands and markers for a warmer central brightness. Neither description means the entire watch is platinum or gold. The leaf belongs to the dial treatment; visible colour and case material are separate matters.
MRG-B2100HS-9A has a warmer gold-leaf dial; its worldwide edition of 150 is not Taiwan stock.
Born in Kyoto’s Nishijin district in 1962, Rakusho learned metal-leaf craft from his father, Jisaku Nishiyama, and established his own brand in 2002. He participates in the dial’s leaf work and finishing, so handwork creates variations in texture and sheen. Official compositions place the small watch beside broad blue, gold and silver artistic surfaces. The interest lies less in shrinking a painting unchanged than in how different scales handle brightness, irregular patches and empty space.

Dial leaf and structural colour are different techniques
The coloured effect on the bezel and bracelet is distinct from the dial’s leaf. CASIO uses an ultrashort-pulse laser to form microscopic textures on metal, producing structural colour through reflection that varies with angle and light. It is not an illuminated screen, nor does every green or purple patch in a photograph remain fixed from every angle. Ask retailers about the actual appearance under different lighting rather than relying on one photograph.
The MRG-B2100 construction also goes beyond its surface colour. The top bezel uses COBARION, the bracelet DAT55G and parts including the case Ti64 titanium, with a DLC coating. Its bezel comprises 27 separate components for individual polishing, paired with buffers in the Multi-Guard Structure. These are manufacturer material and construction details. They do not establish that the watch cannot scratch, or that a material’s hardness multiplier equals the whole watch’s drop-resistance multiplier.
Taiwan expects early-November sales: confirm the full model
Everyday functions include Tough Solar charging, MULTIBAND 6 radio time calibration and Mobile Link, connecting by Bluetooth to CASIO WATCHES for time adjustment. There are alarms, a stopwatch, sapphire crystal glass and a 200-metre water-resistance specification. Sapphire crystal glass does not mean an all-sapphire case. Check the official instructions and device compatibility for the conditions governing calibration and phone connection.
Both case backs carry the MR-G 30TH mark and edition number, with anniversary packaging. HS additionally has a special box decorated with gold leaf and signed by Rakusho. Taiwan has announced expected early-November sales, not a single confirmed launch day, store allocations or reserved appointment places. The HR’s November 13 date in Japan belongs to another market and should not be applied to Taiwan. Quote the complete model when asking designated retailers about delivery and purchasing arrangements; limited production alone does not guarantee retained or rising value.
