JOURNAL STANDARD's THE EDIT menswear: painted tailoring, military chinos and wide stripes for autumn/winter
Presented in Taiwan on 28 October, the 2026 autumn/winter collection explores Relaxed Tailoring and Neo-Trad. Three highlighted pieces cost NT$4,700–14,110; start with proportion rather than a style label.
JOURNAL STANDARD presented its 2026 autumn/winter collection in Taiwan on 28 October. Its menswear theme, THE EDIT, reworks tailoring, military clothing and American vintage references for everyday dressing. Rather than a uniform to copy in full, three distinct anchors stand out: the WOOL PAINTING WASH JK at NT$14,110, Military DAMAGE CHINOS at NT$7,040 and J.S.Homestead ELEPHANT STRIPE PT at NT$4,700. These are Taiwan prices supplied by the brand.
How can a tailored jacket feel more relaxed?
The menswear collection has two directions, Relaxed Tailoring and Neo-Trad. The first starts with tailored forms, using roomier lines and casual elements to loosen the formality of a full suit. The second revisits familiar traditional pieces through different materials and combinations. In the brand's campaign photographs, a brown jacket with wide khaki trousers and a blue upper layer with striped trousers both leave room in the silhouette. Colour and trouser shape establish the image before accessories take over.
A brand styling photograph pairs a blue upper layer with wide striped trousers, emphasising colour and silhouette.
The WOOL PAINTING WASH JK uses a tailored jacket as its base, adding paint effects and a washed finish. The brand says the paint distribution differs from piece to piece. Fabric from Japan's Bishu region is paired with a single-layer, unlined construction. These details suggest treating it as a styling layer rather than assuming lapels demand a shirt and tie. Unlined construction does not, however, make it suitable for every temperature: warmth and comfort still depend on the layers underneath, activity and individual preference.
For chinos, look at the volume and placement of distressing
Military DAMAGE CHINOS draw on US Army chinos, using densely woven fabric with an aged finish. The design retains space from waist to thigh, with a cinched waist and knee pleats; distressing appears from the right knee towards the hem and at the left waist. The supplied styling photograph shows that wide trousers involve more than simply sizing up: the waist, leg and shoe create a different balance. Distressing is part of the design, so not every irregular mark should automatically be read as a defect.
J.S.Homestead's ELEPHANT STRIPE PT instead combines specially commissioned T/C twill with a substantial wide silhouette and vertical stripes. Its emphasis differs from the military chinos: stripes supply a directional line, while the chinos use ageing and pleats for depth. If a wardrobe already contains many printed tops, it helps to decide whether texture, colour or trouser shape should lead, rather than making every part compete for attention.
Turning campaign styling into a personal wardrobe
These looks work as references for proportion: pair wide trousers with a shorter outer layer, or use similar colours underneath to connect different textures, then make one distinctive surface the focal point. Existing plain knitwear, shirts and canvas shoes can be used to test combinations without buying an entire outfit. Other jackets, scarves and footwear in the photographs are not individually priced in this menswear highlight list. The three quoted prices do not cover complete photographed outfits. These are brand styling images, not TIDEZINE wear tests.

For an in-person look, JOURNAL STANDARD's Eslite Spectrum Songyan store is at 1F, 88 Yanchang Road, Xinyi District, Taipei, telephone 02-6636-0128. The Eslite brand page also lists the Songyan first-floor location. Confirm sizes, colours, stock and final prices with the store. The Taiwan presentation date does not mean every overseas channel launches on the same day. Starting with one jacket or pair of trousers and considering its proportions is more useful than shopping by the THE EDIT label alone.
