Gustaf Westman gives Mickey three-dimensional everyday forms; Tokyo orders start November 6
BEAMS announces rounded Disney objects and furniture in black, red and yellow. The poster and sales rules specify November 6–8, with separate online reservations provisionally starting November 15.
When Mickey's ears project from a cup lid rather than appear as a print, a character becomes the outline of an everyday object. On October 30, 2026, BEAMS announced Gustaf Westman's special Disney Mickey & Friends collection. BEAMS RECORDS / bPr BEAMS in Tokyo will display selected products and accept orders from November 6. A red body, black ears and yellow base build a familiar palette into the object itself, inviting consideration of form as well as character collecting.
Ears and colours become part of the object's structure
Sweden-based designer Gustaf Westman is known for bold curves and playful proportions. The official introduction says the architect-turned-designer established his namesake Stockholm studio in 2020, with work spanning furniture, ceramics and glassware. This first special Mickey & Friends collection extends into everyday objects, clothing and accessories. However, Japan will not carry every product in the global collection, so the broader lineup should not be read as a guaranteed inventory for the Tokyo event.
The featured Mickey tumbler places two black round ears above a red cylindrical body with white oval details, supported by a thick, rounded yellow base. A straw rises from the top in the photograph. Recognition comes through proportion and blocks of colour without a complete face. This is a visual observation of an official product photograph: the announcement provides no capacity, heat-resistance or dishwasher specifications. Its character shape should not be turned into a claim that it is insulated or suitable for every drink.
Rounded furniture and black objects bring the character into a room
Another black object combines a central circular opening with two rounded surfaces at either side. Glossy reflections pick out its curved edges. It shares the tumbler's circular vocabulary but uses one colour to emphasise outline. Since the announcement does not identify each pictured object by name and use, this article retains a description rather than assigning it an ashtray, candleholder or tableware function, or inventing an undisclosed price.
A black object echoes the ears through a central opening and rounded sides; the announcement does not label its individual function.
A black chair is shown with swollen-looking backrest, arms and feet, with two ear-like circles above the back. Creases and sheen suggest softness visually, but the photograph cannot establish filling, surface material or load capacity. Consider such pieces in terms of colour area and surrounding space: a small object creates a tabletop focal point, while a chair changes the proportions of a whole corner. The size of a character motif alone cannot determine practical suitability.
The chair product photograph uses rounded back, arms and feet to echo the character's outline.
A three-day order event and expected December arrival differ from online reservations
The dates need care. The official opening paragraph says until November 9 with an incorrect weekday, whereas the poster, later text and sales rules consistently give three days, November 6–8. Plan around that shorter window and reconfirm with the shop before travelling. Online reservations are separately planned for November 15 at 11am in Japan, or 10am in Taiwan. That is a provisional schedule: online ordering does not necessarily begin with the in-store display, and the channels need not carry identical products.
In-store orders are expected to arrive in December and can only be collected at BEAMS RECORDS / bPr BEAMS. The announcement says shipping is unavailable except for furniture. Orders and purchases are limited to one of each item per person, on a first-come basis; reaching the order limit may prevent a purchase. Visitors on short trips from Taiwan should first establish whether they can return after arrival to collect their order. A display date is not a take-home date. Enjoying familiar characters as three-dimensional curves still leaves Japanese availability, collection arrangements and individual specifications to confirm before ordering.
