A $140 million bid result is pushing Hut 8's footprint two steps further into Texas. The company, which started out as a cryptocurrency mining outfit, has put forward an acquisition bid that won two of Poolin's data centers in Texas, with the deal currently still at the proposal stage.

For Hut 8, these two facilities are set to be folded into its expanding AI infrastructure portfolio. The shift of data centers from mining rig arrays to AI computing demand is the most direct signal behind this deal—the sites themselves stay the same, but what's plugged into them is different.

For now, that's all the publicly available information there is. The deal's closing timeline and further integration details have yet to be disclosed.
